    Game Development - Untuk kamu yang hobi main game, kadang penasaran bagaimana cara nya Game Diciptakan. Tanggapan pertama pasti mikir nya pengembang game itu pasti sangat pintar, jago programming, jago komputer dan jago desain. well ... semua itu benar sekali. Di sini gue mo jelasin tahap2 bagaimana game itu di produksi. Sebelum nya, game di kerjakan secara berkelompok. Ada sih yang ngerja'in sendiri tapi fitur nya masih terbatas sekali dan biasa nya berbentuk mini game dengan bahasa program yang sederhana. Nah, gue mo jelasin bagaimana memproduksi game untuk skala besar atau serius.

    Ok, gue bagi dulu kelas dan tahapan pengerja'an nya. Pertama para pengembang atau develop membutuhkan team untuk bekerja di sebuah studio. Ada 4 komponen di sini:

    1. Game Design
    2. Game Artis
    3. Game Programmer
    4. Music Composer

    Tiap komponen memiliki keahlian yang berbeda. Latar belakang pendidikan mereka juga berbeda, karena mereka di tekankan untuk menekunin pada 1 aspek saja.

    Game Design - Tugas utama nya adalah mengumpulkan team dan menciptakan konsep untuk game. Pada tahap ini konsep nya masih berupa Dokumen dan Mood Board. Sebagai ketua proyek, game design akan menjelaskan bagaimana game ini secara visual, bekerja, interaksi, fitur dan alur cerita (game play). Game Design akan memberikan konsep awal berbentuk dokument yang di sebut Game Production. Contoh dokumen Game Production:

    “THE GAUGE OF HOSTILITY”

    Game Description - This game is intended for people ages sixteen and above. The game cover will have a label from
    PEGI the (Pan European Games Information), which will be age rated 16+, suitable for late teens
    onwards.

    This is a First Person Shooter combined with Simulation and Real Time Strategy which means you will control Units to manage how well his/her combat technique develops through the game. At the beginning of the game, you are in command of a platoon from the “The Hornet”. an Elite Special Forces unit operating vanguard of multi national Military regiments. Set in the year 2015. The Hornet depicts a near future in which an ultra Terrorist organisation have seized power in the World and begun a campaign of aggression to gain control of the peace. With the situation rapidly deteriorating, your team is inserted into hotspots like Urban City, Deep Forest and The Gulf to help bring about stability.

    GAME LOOKING

    Video Opening - The game starts with an opening video which has been created by MAYA. The opening starts from Combat on Urban City. The view will be from the Satellite aiming down looking back at the land and the camera will be going around to view all the war zone from every angle.

    • Campaign Mode - Classic scenario-based game play
    • Co-Op - Classic Scenario on multi player mode
    • Quick Mission - Play part of mission campaign
    • Multi Player - Competitive Multi Player-LAN/Internet
    • Training - Tutorial mode

    Tools Menu
    • Mission Editor – Create your own scenarios, which you can control map size, mission goal, enemy unit and skills
    • Stock – A place to Store and Modification unlocked weapons from each completed mission.
    • Character Design – Create your own character, you can save it as files. Your character can be used when next time you would like to create a new game.
    • Video Gallery – You can Reply and Store your mission record saved as Video Files.

    • Adjust various game options and settings
    • Control setting
    • Connection setting
    • Display Setting

    Exit
    • Back to mission menu
    • Quit game

    GAME PLAYING

    Gaming time clock
    • The time clock in the game is real earth time
    • 1 hour in game = 1 hour real earth time

    How to play - Before each mission, you will get a video briefing you on your team's goals, as well as a 3D Map Feed of the mission area. After the briefing, you'll carry out tasks like assaulting enemy camps or facilities, rescuing downed pilots and recovering or destroying intelligent data, blowing up bunkersbridges- facilities, ambushing or sabotaging an enemy's column and fighting through bombed-out towns or Gas Poisoned fields.

    You'll get to assign soldiers with particular specialities like Sniper, Demolition, Support, Operator and Engineer to three fire teams to create a balanced force based on mission goals. Each fire team can include up to three men, you can only enter a mission with a measly total of nine men. Each soldier is rated for Weapon Skill, Stealth, Mobility, Techniques and Intelligence. The mission will be set of Slow, Stealthy and Unpredictable. Your basic weapon will be equipped with Silencer Devices to reduce Sound and Muzzle Flash. Once you arrived at the insertion zone, one of your specialist member can operate the UAV to gather intelligent about moving targets around your mission area. You need to plan your each and every movement in order to not attract any attention before you reach the mission target. Being cautious, well equipped and stealth like at all possible times, to accomplish the mission in a efficient manner.

    The basic of physics law will be effect the game. Wind, Range and Gravitation will be Influenced your accuracy. If you using Guided Rocket Launcher, you will guide the missile from the placer its launched to reach the target, which mean you will exposes your position to the enemy. The Engineer is used to fix or operate specific equipment such as Radar Station to provide information about target area to the best path to reach in a safe way, Tag Enemy Units, Capturing Enemy Property such as Command Centre or Scramble Enemy Communications.
    Ini hanya sebagian konten dari konsep dokumen Game Production milik gue. Selain itu, game design juga menciptakan karakter utama dari game ini. Berikut misi yang akan di tugaskan serta desain level yang akan di gunakan, tingkat kesulitan dan lain2 yang berhubungan dengan game mekanik.


    Game Artist - Tugas nya adalah menciptakan Efek Visual di dalam game. Misal nya Animasi, detail pada karakter atau Items, Komposisi warna, Pencahaya'an bahkan texture yang akan di pakai di dalam game. Mereka juga menciptakan Lingkungan sesuai dengan kebutuhan game. Pengguna'an detail yang terlalu rumit dapat menyebabkan game terlalu berat untuk di load, mereka bertanggung jawab agar game yang di mainkan tidak terlalu memberatkan media atau perangkat keras (hardware) untuk game ini setelah di produksi.


    Game Programmer - Mereka adalah Inti dari Game Mekanik. Bertugas untuk mengerjakan Coding pada Platform yang akan di gunakan. Tiap game membutuhkan Engine sebagai Core untuk template game bisa berfungsi. Contoh Engine yang populer di gunakan adalah:

    Half Life 1 - Counter-Strike
    Half-Life 2 - Counter-Strike Source
    Crytek - Crysis
    Unreal 3 - Modern Warfare 2

    Mereka juga berhubungan langsung dengan Editor yang memang sudah di sediakan pada engine tersebut.


    Music Composer - Tugas nya adalah mengisi Efek Suara pada karakter, lingkungan, senjata bahkan musik untuk latar belakang di game ini. Mereka juga mengisi musik dan suara untuk animasi di dalam game.


    Setelah semua tugas rangkum dan lulus test (Game Tester), umum nya butuh waktu bertahun2 ... game bisa di produksi atau di tawarkan ke Game Publisher. Game yang di tawarkan bisa berbentuk demo atau hanya sebagian dari keseluruhan.

    Keren banget ada jurusan yang khusus untuk game. Di Univ saya itu hanya 1 matkul saja. Meski tentunya dengan bekal dari matkul-matkul lainnya....
