Real test CPU scaling with 9800GX2

    test system :

    Hardware
    - Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (3.00GHz) LGA775
    - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.00GHz) LGA775
    - AMD Phenom X4 9850 (2.50GHz) AM2+
    - x2 OCZ DDR2 PC3-10666 Platinum Edition (DDR3-1333) Module(s)
    - x2 OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Edition (DDR2-800) Module(s)

    - Seagate 320GB 7200-RPM (Serial ATA300)

    - ASUS GeForce 9800 GX2 (1024MB)

    - ASUS Striker II Extreme (Nvidia nForce 790i Ultra SLI)
    - ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe (Nvidia nForce 780a SLI)

    Software
    - Microsoft Vista Ultimate (64-bit)
    - Nvidia nForce 9.64
    - Nvidia Forceware 174.74

For this test we will be using an Intel 45nm quad-core processor along with a 45nm dual-core processor and the new Phenom X4 9850. Representing Intel’s 45nm quad-core technology will be the Core 2 Extreme QX9650, which will be tested at frequencies ranging from 2.00GHz through to 3.60GHz. The 45nm dual-core technology will be represented by the Core 2 Duo E8400, which will be tested at frequencies ranging from 2.00GHz to 4.20GHz! Then the Phenom X4 9850 will also be clocked as low as 2.00GHz, while we will also test it at frequencies through to its default 2.5GHz operating speed. Unfortunately while we have been able to post at 2.7GHz using our Phenom X4 9850, we cannot get it stable at even 2.6GHz, so for now Phenom overclocking has not been included.

    [*Edit: Tambahan.
Duh,...itu AMD malu-maluin aja,...ide siapa nih nyantumin AMD dilist itu arrggghh.)

IMHO, bagaimana scalabilitas dari peningkatan performa CPU dalam kaitannya dengan performa gaming with GPU held constant, masih tergantung dgn typical game yg dimainkan. Game2 RTS, apalagi yg Physic engine nya keren, pasti bikin procie lemot terengah2, apalagi pada rez & IQ setting yg gak gitu tinggi.
