ABOUT

Established in 2001, Santamonica is the brainchild of duo Joseph Saryuf and Anindita. An eclectic mix of indie pop, bossa nova, electronic music and classic waltz, the band describes its sound as “a multilayered, musical version of Alice In Wonderland” distinguished by Joseph's surreal guitar and Anindita's whimsical lyrics.

After catching the attention of Quince Records, which included their music on one of the Japanese label’s Pop Shower compilations, the dynamic duo began playing more gigs. Soon after people were talking about their unique sound and stage antics. In September 2005, the group released their first EP titled “189” as a warm-up to the release of the band's full-length album in 2006.

The EP’s three songs -- “Please say yes”, “Sought and found”, and “Serenade of Yellow Park” – neatly sum up the band’s fresh, new sound and offer a taste of what is yet to come.
