Kernel Streaming dan ASIO mengakses langsung ke low level dari sound card untuk melakukan operasi.

Kualitas suara Kernel Streaming dan ASIO jelas di atas standar seperti WaveOut ataupun DirectSound.

Audio Stream Input/Output is a cross-platform, multi-channel protocol for audio transfer that was developed by Steinberg and is now being adapted by many manufactures of audio/MIDI sequencing applications. It allows various programs to communicate with different sound cards and to recognize all of the inputs and outputs available on the sound card. The user can then assign these I/O ports as needed for recording or playback when using an ASIO-compatible software program.


Audio Stream In/Out, this a direct from sound hardware low latency method of sending sounds, it bypasses the Windows sound mixer for perfect sound reproduction.


A standardized communication protocol between audio software and hardware, developed by Steinberg Media Technologies to bypass the problem of potentially high operating system/monitoring latency (time delay). It enables audio hardware manufacturers to write optimized drivers for their hardware. For a user, the knowledge that an ASIO driver exists for a particular piece of hardware, is a sign that there will be a performance boost, compared with the same audio card configured to use an operating system’s own mechanism.


Pengaruh pada Foobar? Kualitas playback-nya jadi "jauh" lebih baik... Seberapa "jauhnya" tentu berbeda-beda tergantung perangkat dan usernya.
