Global illumination really needs to be gamma corrected to get an equivalent brightness scene:



The shadows from the direct light wont change shape with gi (penumbra shadows do that), however they will no longer be a solid, consistent brightness giving a much more coherent scene with objects looking part of the world (thanks to light bleeding).
An abstract example that is an approximation (no gi on the left, gi with 2 secondary bounces and 1 in every 16 pixels calculated on the right):


Hardly a gimmick, even the most vague approximation in realtime still contributes very significantly to realism I think.


As long as the GI is being calculated in realtime (like the space one is), there will be no difference between player controlled movement and no movement.

(kaya' GI on di S.T.A.L.K.E.R klo di outdoor fine-fine aja, tapi begitu indoor hancur leburlah fps-nya)

Menurut gw sih yg bener2 breakthrough konsep day&night cyclenya, + semua yg divideo itu. Kl gambar emang jadi kewajiban sih most wanted game skrg hrs bagus, plus di atomic PC magazine bbrp bulan lalu dikasih screenshot gila2 semua..bending trees, cycle, bleeeh...tinggal kesabaran nunggu game aja
