Karena untuk mengalahkan sebuah FX-55 yang belum di-OC, Intel harus membuat 5.2Ghz processor. Dan itu adalah hal yang tidak mungkin.

Not surprising the Pentium 4 needs quite a boost in clock speed before it is able to convincingly beat the Athlon 64 FX55, at a clock speed of no less than 5.2GHz there’s no doubt about who takes the performance crown. And yes, that’s double the clock speed of the Athlon 64 FX55 processor which runs at a mere 2.6GHz. It has to be said though that reaching a 5.2GHz clock speed isn’t for the faint of heart; the motherboard chipset and memory run at their highest supported voltages and are cooled by a plethora of fans to keep them cool. The processor, running at maximum core voltage, is interfaced with the receiving end of a 1/2 hp compressor which releases high pressure R507 gas in the evaporator bringing the temperature down to a freezing -40 degrees Celsius.

So we hope our findings put an end to all of the discussion about who’s got the fastest processor on the market, that processor is none other than AMD’s Athlon 64 FX55. Due to diminishing returns the Pentium 4 processor needs a whopping 5.2GHz clock speed to keep up with AMD’s flagship processor. So was it a good decision on Intel’s part to announce it will not be shipping a 4GHz processor? We think so, as the Pentium 4 was just never going to best AMD’s Athlon 64. Craig Barret clearly had guts and vision when making that decision, or, and that’s just as likely, he knew the 4GHz Pentium 4 needed another 1.2GHz to soundly beat AMD’s fastest, and that just wasn’t feasible.

apa mungkin Intel perlu pangkas harga dibawah AMD supaya bisa bersaing?

tampaknya orang masih banyak yg intel minded,
meski harga lebih mahal tapi katanya hati lebih tenang karena jarang hang,

Tapi anehnya AMD malah merugi,
Intel??? Mungkin untung besar karena berhasil memasarkan chipnya?

Selain udah punya nama, Intel juga didukung oleh vendor-vendor software, misal di tempat kerja ku punya software yang hanya jalan pada PC yang menggunakan proc dari Intel. Jangan-jangan microsoft ntar jalan hanya pada proc Intel, seperti Apple dengan Mac OSnya.
Kalau aku sih tetep pakai AMD, sepengalaman saya gak pernah ada masalah kecuali dulu jaman Athlon yang panas selain itu dak ada masalah.

P4 distop? aku sih setuju selain mahal juga lebih hot gituhh. Mungkin Intel perlu mengeluarkan P5 yang dingin, kenceng dan murah tentunya baru bisa mengubur nama AMD.

Tapi itu perlu waktu yang cukup lama. Tentunya AMD udah lari lagi dengan proc yang baru ingetkan siapa yang tembus 1G?

Intel taktik pemasarannya sangat bagus. AMD pemasarannya tuh kurang. Intel punya pola pikir yang bagus untuk PC. Mereka berani buat iklan komputer di TV, kalo compare ke AMD. Masalah terbaru lagi juga di dalam Intelnya sendiri ada masalah kayaknya sekarang, tentang P4 vs PM(Centrino). Lucunya P4 banding PM kurang lebih sama kayak P4 banding AMD. Mungkin ada baiknya buat Intel stoppin P4, trus naikkan pangkat PM jadi P5-M. Trus pasarin processor intelnya itu dengan low power consumption, faster, and more reliable than P4 EE. Intel Pentium 5-M mobile technology for your PC and your laptop. Gue rasa bakal laku keras. Intel gak perlu bikin processor yang murah, yang mahal juga udah pasti laku. Gue rasa hampir semua server2 sekarang masih pake Xeon. Di uni gue aja server gitu banyak pake Xeon.
Masalah lainnya AMD nggak bikin motherboard. Yah itu sih salah dia sendiri, knp dia nggak bikin motherboard. Tujuan bikin motherboard: jadi dia bisa jual dengan harga bundle dengan motherboardnya. At least bikin chipset buat motherboardnya lah. Kalo lo pergi ke toko2 kan nggak ada motherboard dengan chipset AMD. Dari awal AMD itu temennya si VIA itu.
Masalah lainnya sebelum tahun 2006, intel dan AMD harus berlomba2 mendesign processor dengan kecepatan 6 GHz dual core untuk menjadi yang pertama compatible dengan Windows Longhorn. *Memang Miekocok (Mircrosoft-red) itu udah sakit, average requirement Longhorn 4-6Ghz dual core.

kalo setau gue sih, p4, prescott terutama, distop karena panas
padahal sktr 2taon lalu, target mereka tuh capai 10ghz, tapi sejak mereka masuk ke prescott, mereka sadar kalo processor mereka itu panas banget
