baca2 therad yg lain ternyata yg sudah murni jalan di 64 bit itu Itanium yah...
yg jadi pertanyaan saya ,kok jarang banget denger nih satu CPU ,Kenapa intel bwat xeon dan itanium yah...,kalau Xeon kan bwat server kalau Itanium ?

kalau dari AMD ngeluarin produk bwat nemenin Itanium nggak ?

setau gue sih xeon 32 bit, itanium 64 bit, jarang denger karena jarang yg pake buat desktop udah gitu mahal pula, coba deh survey anak chip ada gak yg pc-nya pake itanium??

Itanium processor only 900Mhz dulu harga $3000
Itanium2 gue nggak tahu, gue udah keluar pas Itanium2 keluar.
Mainboard sekitar $1000-an.

AMD nggak punya processor buat imbangin Itanium. Anyway, Itanium kayaknya perkembangannya udah terhambat, soalnya tim pengembang Itanium, yang ada di HP, sekarang udah dibeli sama Intel. Dan yang bikin Itanium kenceng itu adalah kemampuan yang dari HP PA-RISC yang dimasukkan disana. HP udah nggak mau ikut ngembangin Itanium, jadi sekarang tinggal Intel sendiri di Itanium.

Xeon = low end server. Itanium..... huehuehuehue.. dulu sih mestinya server. Dan Xeon akan dihapuskan dari pasaran. Tapi kenyataan berbicara lain. Harga Itanium mahal banget, dan daripada beli Itanium yang tanggung, orang lebih pilih Power4 atau SPARC sekalian. Belum lagi di Itanium nggak ada software, udah gitu dia jalanin program x86 leletnya udah kayak kuya..
SEkarang Itanium didegrade menjadi high end server, terus high end workstation, terus dirubah lagi menjadi database server.

Bank Lippo deployed Itanium 2 processor-based IBM xSeries* servers running on Microsoft* Windows* Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server* 2000.

cuma gw mikir kan opteron temenya xeon
ternyata emang Itanium itu cuma bisa di lihat di Server2 kantor dan pabrik aja kali yah...,ha..ha..gw penasaran aja soalnya...
