Sekedar info saja supaya tidak salah pengertian soal PCI-E 3.0

Syarat untuk jalan PCI-E 3.0 adalah, VGA, motherboard dan prosesor sudah mendukung PCI-E 3.0 (untuk prosesor saat ini baru Sandy Bridge E dan nanti Ivy Bridge yang sudah mendukung PCI-E 3.0). Bila salah satu dari 3 syarat diatas tidak terpenuhi maka otomatis akan turun ke PCI-E 2.0 dan backward compatible dengan VGA PCI-E 2.0.

Contoh :

1. VGA 7970 (PCI-E 3.0) + MB Z68 (sudah support PCI-E 3.0) + i7-2600K (PCI-E 2.0) hasilnya akan jalan di PCI-E 2.0
2. VGA GTX580 (PCI-E 2.0) + MB X79 (PCI-E 3.0) + i7-3930K (PCI-E 3.0) hasilnya akan jalan di PCI-E 2.0
3. VGA GTX680 (PCI-E 3.0) + MB Z77 (PCI-E 3.0) + i7-3770K (PCI-E 3.0) otomatis akan jalan di PCI-E 3.0

PCI Express 3.0

Sandy Bridge-E’s memory capabilities are decidedly more relevant in the server space. However, the design’s PCI Express connectivity might appeal to power users with an affinity for multi-card graphics subsystems.

One of the most controversial points in my Sandy Bridge-E preview was the fact that PCI Express 3.0 was stated "not supported" by the manufacturer of my test platform. Multiple outside sources indicated that third-gen PCIe was planned, but wouldn’t be available, possibly until 2012.

It turns out that PCI Express 3.0 is, in fact, supported by Sandy Bridge-E (and the preview was updated to confirm 8 GT/s support the day after it went live). But because there weren’t (and still aren’t) any third-gen devices available yet, validating the feature was problematic. In fact, as you can see in the image below, Intel is still only officially guaranteeing that PCI Express 2.0 works, and probably will continue to do so until we see some hardware with a third-gen interface.

Alasan kenapa intel tidak menyatakan PCI-E 3.0 compliant untuk SB-E karena waktu SB-E hadir, belum ada satupun periferal terutama VGA yang sudah siap dengan PCI-E 3.0.

jadi apakah sekarang kalo saya pake rampage IV extreme + 3930K + GTX 680/HD 7970-----> jalan di pcie 3.0??? nyatanya ngga tuh, ane bisa kasih SS GPU-Znya yang tetep jalan di pcie 2.0,

Pasti jalan, saya pake X79 GIGABYTE, 3930K dan 3820 serta 7970 GPU-Z menunjukkan PCI-E 3.0 pada full speed X16. Untuk GTX680 ada announcement dari NVIDIA soal PCI-E 3.0 di X79 platform

NVIDIA courteously responded to our article, with a statement. Here's the statement verbatim:

While X79/SNB-E is a native Gen2 platform, some motherboard manufacturers have enabled Gen3 speeds. With our GTX 680 launch drivers, we will only be supporting Gen2 speeds on X79/SNB-E while we work on validating X79/SNB-E at these faster speeds. Native Gen3 chipsets (like Ivy Bridge) will still run at full Gen3 speeds with our launch drivers.

GeForce GTX 680 supports PCI Express 3.0. It operates properly within the SIG PCI Express Specification and has been validated on multiple upcoming PCI Express 3.0 platforms. Some motherboard manufacturers have released updated SBIOS to enable the Intel X79/SNB-E PCI Express 2.0 platform to run at up to 8GT/s bus speeds. NVIDIA is currently working to validate X79/SNB-E with GTX 680 at these speeds with the goal of enabling 8GT/s via a future software update. Until this validation is complete, the GTX 680 will operate at PCIE 2.0 speeds on X79/SNB-E-based motherboards with the latest web drivers.

ini yang ane rada aneh, di hal yang ane kasih di atas bro hanson bilang, dia pake P67 dipasangin dengan i7 2600K tertulis pcie 3.0 di GPUZ, is there something wrong with AMD cards??? karena udah jelas bgt kalo i7 2600K + P67 ga support pcie 3.0, ato sebenernya support tapi didisabled sama intel???
coba om ben pasangin deh sama GTX 680, trus liat SS GPU-Znya, tulisannya cuma pcie 2.0, padahal udah jelas tertulis di situs resmi nvidia dan di semua review kalo GTX 680 itu pcie 3.0, ane sendiri pengguna Rampage IV extreme + 3930K + GTX 680

Hehehehe....tertulis PCI-E 3.0 itu sebagai informasi VGA tapi untuk melihat bandwidthnya klik tanda "?" di sebelah informasi PCI-E 3.0, akan terlihat itu PCI-E 3.0 atau 2.0 .. sedangkan untuk GTX680 saya sudah jelaskan diatas.. NV mengaku masih improvement driver untuk PCI-E 3.0 di platform X79.

ane ga pernah bilang di X79 inti masalahnya
tapi di processor SB-E karena kontroller lane pcie semenjak sandy bridge ada di procie
dan di block diagram itu ga bilang itu sandy bridge E atau ivy bridge E
sebenarnya ini udah dibahas di forum luar kaya di techpowerup, ane malah heran kalo ada yang bisa pcie 3.0 di X79
dan ini spec sheet intel
